Thank you to everyone who attended the Arvada/Westminster Town Meeting last Saturday! We talked about the new liquor laws that were passed last year. SB 197 phases in liquor, beer and wine in our grocery stores over the next 5 and 20 years and phases out 3.2 beer. The bill attempts to balance convenience to you in where you can buy your liquor with saving our small business liquor stores. We were joined by the CEO/President of the Colorado Licensed Beverage Association, Jeanne M. McEvoy and by the nonpartisan Legislative Council Staff Luisa Aultman and Anna Gerstle. Luisa and Anna completed research and background information about the Colorado Liquor Laws. It can be found at:
If you missed this town meeting, don’t worry! Representative Sias, Senator Zenzinger and I have our town meetings on the 3rd Saturday of each month. Our next meeting will be on May 20th from 10:30 am-12:00. It will be held at the Standley Lake Library (8485 Kipling St. Arvada, CO 80005). We’ll be talking about what happened at the Legislature this year-so bring your questions! Save the date-in July, Westminster Mayor Herb Atkinson and Mayor Pro Tem Alberto Garcia will be giving us an overview of the Westminster Town Center.
I also have my Community Coffees next week on Thursday, April 27th! I will be at La Dolce Vita (5756 Olde Wadsworth Blvd, Arvada, CO 80002) from 7:00-8:00 am and Panera Bread (The Shops At Walnut Creek, 10450 Town Center Dr, Westminster, CO 80021) from 6:30-7:30 pm. Enjoy a cup of coffee while we discuss your questions regarding community issues, current legislation, and more.
